Me and my girl got out on the pack Saturday evening for the first day of the walleye season, and started the season off with 3 nice walleye(24",25",and 26"). We started fishing at 8:30pm trolling with a shadow rap shad and hooked up in the first 5 min. Within the hour we landed the others.  (http://)http://rs328.pbsrc.com/albums/l341/Hachimo2/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsoxl76dnq.jpeg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip

the water temp was 54 degrees. Earlier last week it was around 51 so it's warming up a little bit.

I haven't been seeing any schools of baitfish anywhere on the lake at night.  I'm guessing the water temp gotta have something to do with it.

I went back up again last night and only got one smallie about 18".  No walleyes and the water temp dropped back down to 51 degrees.  Yea Chez Im waiting on the water to get warmer but just way to anxious. I've been fishing the pack for 3 years now and this is the first year I started catching fish. It's a very tough discouraging lake if you don't know how to fish it. Thanks to some older fisherman showing me the how's and when's of the lake this year started off very well.  On March 13 I landed a 42" 30lb striper and now I'm hitting the walleye.  Great fish. We sure are behind with water temp. 64 degrees is kind of the magic temp. Like Chez said once it starts it will be a party every nite. Fingerling trout go in the 19th ;).

Thanks for all the input fellas.  I'm gonna try to get on the lake again this evening. It's gonna stay in the 60's most of the evening and 0-3mph winds out of the SW.  I seem to do much better with the wind out of the SW if any.  I will keep ya posted on water temps and hopefully with more pics.

That's some good fishing bassman.  I went up the pack again last night from 8pm-11pm.  Water temp was 58 degrees and seen some elwives surfacing. I had two hook-ups but landed nothing.  gonna try again Friday evening.

Nice pb. Next weekend I gotta hit the pack again.

The lake is up. Probably higher than last year. 1187.2 today. There is NO shoreline along the launch. Water is right up to the bushes and tree roots. That spot you were at last year Z might even be tough now. The trout will draw them tight to the launch but once the alewives come in the fish will spread out along there. As of Saturday the dock still wasn't in  >:(. Just be ready. 3 years ago we got a lot of 12-15" stripers, each year the average size is going up. Lots of 28-34" fish now. My buddies have been out more than me and everytime they hit 2-6 stripers while bass fishing. 12+ pounders have been common. There are plenty more like the monster Hachimo got.

Thats the funny thing. I am rarely targeting stripers. Always walleyes at nite, even the ones I get in the early spring I am looking for bass.  The stripes are a bonus. Once in a while if I seem to be around a lot of them I target them with the the spook.

Got up the pack again Friday night and the party started. Launched from the state launch and the lot was full of trailers. Water temp was 59 degrees and the baitfish were all over the place. We had a few hookups but only landed one. Hopefully we get some warmer weather comin soon to get the water temp up a lil more.  (http://rs328.pbsrc.com/albums/l341/Hachimo2/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsxmfl6eis.jpeg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip)

Was at the pac last nite ,,7pm till 1 am ,2 of us not 1 hit, worst nite in history for me.
Fished,the launch,wilsonville ,the dike,and the big island.
All the guys i talked to had the same results.
Not even a rock bass.
Fingerlink trout were all over the public launch.i counted 9 different eyes in that arra when we were taking the boat out.
It was a total BUST.

I like staying put,and quiet as possible when bait is around.
But the skipper on the boat likes to keep moving after a few vast and no fish.

On the go!. Same as Bwes said. If its a confidence spot or one that is giving up fish I may go back several times. Rest it an hours or so and go back. I feel at night there are fish moving up and back all night.  Good areas reload with new fish.

What time u launching were launching at 8
8:00 is usually the time I launch when I go after work, usually out of Capri sometimes out of state launch.. I'm on my river boat this year and with my little motor it takes time to get around the lake. I wanted to go tonight but the girl was exhausted and can't go without my partner. Maybe we can meet up sometime tomarrow night. Besides I got one of Tony's lures he lost

Here's my tip
I use the same lure in the same color everytime I'm out lol
I never switch lures or color
From years(well about 3 to 4)of trial and error this is the color/ style that gets it done

A night crawler with a bobber lol

For what it's worth, these shadow rap shads are new from rapala this year. 8 of the walleye I've caught this year come off the silver shallow diver.  Just throwing it out there I know we all have our #1 walleye lures but always nice to have somethin different in the tackle box.

Well you did better than me! No eyes, 1 small striper in, one small striper popped off at the boat. Probably same size as the ones you caught. I saw the same thing, quite a bit more bait. Still not in full swing but starting. There were some fish working bait but not cooperative for me. I stayed til 12:45,

How did the tournament go

BAD. only 16 people. I remember there was always 35-50 in the old Midnite Madness times. 1st stripe was 16#. 1st walleye was 5+. 1st catfish is 1.6 BULLHEAD. My partner got it on a rouge! I had 3rd striper.  Only paid 1st in each category due to low turnout. The scale was broken, wire snapped. I did the weigh in with my handheld cull scale lol. I think 6 walleyes total came in. 4 stripers.

WOW. Where is the bait? I was only out a couple times and there wasn't a lot of bait around. Usually from late May thru June its crazy with bait. Eyes, stripes always around them. Kind of weird.

1 year I was fishing a few miles below the spillway at the Pac.
KIMBLES BRIDGE area  LACKAWAXIN RIVER,,,There were hundreds of thousands of sawbellies dead all over the shore.
THEY OPENED THE PIPE AT THE DAM AND THE GOT SAWBELLIES SUCKED DOWN STREAM...it really was a shame to see it.
MADE ME SICK. :(

Crankbaits, jigs, tubes, senkos, buzzbait, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits. We run it all. The area we are fishing sometimes make you use different lures. Cranks are my favs. If you are getting into some weeds the crank gets tough so maybe a spinnerbait and buzzbait are needed. As the summer progresses the fish move. I'm not really fond of finesse baits but at times the tube is the deal. Even then I go to a 4-4.5" tube or a 6" senko.
