What a surprise. We're you targeting them from shore or was it an accidental catch? What did it take?

thanks guys and was targeting them from shore. threw all kinds of stick baits and even tried some topwater and cranks out to no luck. fired a chub out on a bobber where a bunch af alewifes broke water and he pounded it.when i finaly got him to the top he took off like a dolphin and was taking some drag. what pound test and setups do you guys used. i took my catty setup with 12 lb stren for floating some chubs and took my 20 lb braid set up for lures. we had a couple of nice swipes at our lures though and spider i didnt think he was big enough on stripers terms to mount but i had plans on eating some striper filets. and thanks pabassman for the advice.

we got there about 7 left about 7 lol. i got mine latenight. i had another big run i let him take some line on my baitrunner catty setup.when i thought it was time i set the hook and felt a big pull and plink got a set of chub lips back. andy got some rockies. the rockies were pounding them lil fingerlings like crazy.them fingerlings are small like the size of big fatheads.you guys get any pb. ive been trying to hook one on the ice up there but no luck.man he put up a nice run and  on a hand line ice fishing that would be a blast. i was happy.i heard some guy at the launch got one keeper and a throw back. whats the avg size they catch up there. that 28 was nice i could imagine one in the mid 30s would be an epic battle on 12 lb test i was thinking after i landed mine on 12 lb. i was thinking if he would have been in the 30s that 12 lb setup could have been an adventure in fighting one lol.half way up there i thought about why i didnt grab MY BIG NET. i said andy dont miss em i only had a size one sigle hook in em and andy two handed em right out.just woke up took a vac day lastbight so i figured i give a lil more of the story. was to tired this morning to go into details lol.a good night though we took a lil propane grill and made some bac ched burgs on toasted bagels and jalp onion ched dogs lol.we werent right at the launch there were already guys there when we arrived.a good night off work though.
