let's talk knots

What's your favorite knot for tying line to lure? To spool? To a leader? Line to line?

I use an arbor knot to tie to spool, I don't tie a lot of line to line but when I do I usually use a uni knot and line to lure I use a Palomar knit 75% of the time and a trilene knot for other applications

I just use a clinch knot for lures, jigs and hooks. I have a weird homespun know that I use to tie on to the spool and to join line works for both.

CHEZ,  where you missing a rod when you woke up?  Lol.  That sucks man.  I had a buddy hook onto something in Laceyville one morning that straightened out the clasps part of his heavy duty steel leader.  We don't know what it was but when he set the hook it ran and pop it was gone.  It was big whatever it was.

YA BUDDY,BUT 2 week later I had a new set up along with my older gear and didn't tie the line to the spool and as faith would have it,i dozed off for a few minutes [[[again]]],MUST BE THE FRESH AIR,not the beers, well I woke from my lounge chair, dreeming I had a cat take my pole agin, but to my surprise, the pole and reel was there, but all the line was GONE,.Got some slammer cats out of that hole threw the years, nice eyes and smallies also.
I remember fishing it one year in the boat with a friend of mine that has past. Was opening day of grouse, guys were walking the hills by the quarry in there orange vest hunting, and we crushed the smallie and slammer rock bass on black, and white MARIBOU JIGS.We got rockies 10",never had a day like that again.
I DO NOT TIE the line to ANY OF MY REELS.

How do you start it on your spools?

It seems like almost every time we go there for walleye one of us gets hooked into a gator too.  ;)

Fly line to leader>  now they a me looped but used to be a nail knot

Line to line>  usually a blood knot or surgeons knot

Line to lure or hook>  60% of time I use a clinch or improved clinch.  The rest of the time I use a palomar knot.  Unless I am trolling live bait the I Snell the hooks on.

Line to reel>. Use a loop or standard slip not.

Does anybody know the knot for joining to lines together that can be any size.  Like something pretty stiff likec8# to something like 3 or 4.

Wizzy are you joining leader to tippet for fly fishing 8# to 3# ? If so a surgeons knot would work, or a blood knot

I use the improved clinch knot, but sometimes I settle for a regular clinch knot if I am using 2 pound test and get frustrated when I cant see the line. :o
