trouts
« on: June 03, 2015, 03:40:53 PM »
I figured I would upload some media to show what I've been up to.  Trouts, that's about it.

The rains this first week of June created some dandy conditions on the creeks.  The action was superb with fish coming out of their hiding spots and feeding aggressively.

Day one I missed 2 or 3 times as many as I hooked but still landed 10 or so.  Day 2 started off the same but the last 30 minutes or so of daylight was pure insanity.  I hiked back to a stretch full of big rocks and plunge pools that probably hadn't seen any anglers for weeks.  The area was surreal with large boulders and caves with water dripping down and the ground totally covered with green ferns, it smelled of pure fresh plants.  I netted 11 in a row, the fish were hungry.   The most amazing thing was that they were all chunkers, a couple 16 inchers and the rest were all healthy and strong 14-15 inchers.

Rainbow and release, you can see the water is still a bit murky at the end of day 2

I got the best trout of the season so far the last Friday in May, no camera, I left it in my other vest.  It was a huge rainbow on a dry fly, easily over 20 inches and 5-6 lbs, what a fighter.
