WINOLA SATURDAY

HEADED TO WINOLA FOR SOME BASS BEFORE DARK AND COULDNT LAND A FISH TO SAVE MY LIFE! >:( ONE OF THOSE DAYS I GUESS. LOST A NICE LARGIE AND A BIG PICKEREL BOATSIDE AND A FEW OTHERS. MY BUDDY LANDED A LITTLE GUY AND A 17" RAINBOW ON HIS DROPSHOT :o WE STAYED AFTER DARK FOR SOME TROUT ACTION AND IT WAS ON! LIMITED OUT WITH 4 PEOPLE AND 6 WERE OVER 17" ;D MAYFLIES WERE HATCHING BY THE MILLONS TOO ;)

WE GET BROOKIES ONCE IN A WHILE BUT ALL THEY PUT IN ANYMORE ARE RAINBOWS ANYMORE. THEY PUT A BUNCH OF FINGERLING BROWNS IN IN 09 BUT IVE NEVER CAUGHT ONE. IVE SEEN SOME GOLDENS CAUGHT AT NIGHT TOO.

Nice catch. Did you get them bottom fishing. That's how we ger them in the summer at night with spikes and meal worms

THEY WERE SUSPENDED UP FROM 22-12 FEET IN 50FOW. THEY FOLLOW THE PHYTOPLANKTON IN THE THERMOCLINE AS IT RIZES OF THE BOTTOM AT NIGHT.

WE HOOKED 6 OR 8 AND ONLY LANDED 1 HAHA. THEY WERE PRETTY SLOW.

If I'm correct dosent winola have special regulations for bass? Because they have a bunch of stunted 8 inchers? And by a bunch I mean thousands . They go around in little schools and will demolish any lure or bait  even if it's twice there size

Yeah it does you can keep bass up to 12 inches and only one bigger then 18. The slot is 12 to 18 catch and release

I do pretty good up there on baby bass crankbaits and chug bugs

Same here some nites can't get them on the boat fast enough
and other nites they don't want to know nothing 8)

By this time of the year my arms are sore
from catching smallies at Harveys Lake but
the bite has been slow just a couple of small Large mouths
and some pickerel , when they turn on i'll be there 8)

Those are some healthy looking trout.  They are super fat.  Definitely have to try that one of these days.  Great catch buddy!
