Panfish and white bean soup anyone??

Ingredients :
About 1 pounder of panfish fillets...cut into cubes
3-4 strips of bacon...if desired
1 medium sized onion chopped
1 cup of celery chopped
2 cans of great northern beans or white navy
1 can of corn
Half teaspoon of garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground pepper
Salt...to taste
2 cans of chicken broth
8 oz. Of sour cream
Half cup of cream
1 can of mild chilies if you want a lil kick


Sautee onion,celery and bacon
Add chicken broth,corn,beans (drained and rinsed), seasonings, chilies  (if desired )...bring to a simmer, add fish and cream, stir in sour cream. Low simmer for about 20 minutes and it's ready...yum

very good recepie Fishfinder,,I have one similar.I use the bacon,chopped into tiny bits.
Try running a chunk of carrot threw the food processer,or a ninja machine and adding that,It adds a bit of sweetness.
ALL in all a great panfish chowder :)
What turned out to be a Joke,The Law Dogs  Dont Understand!!!!

good recipe. My wife loves making soup, I'm gonna give here a copy of this and hope she makes a pot this weekend! I got a couple crappie fillets that should go just fine in this ;)

Yes! Try it, you won't be disappointed. I think I had a mix of crappie and perch fillets....but pretty much any white meat fish will do. I also like to put a lil shredded cheese on top before serving...kinda like a chilli. Forgot to mention in the recipe that the bacon needs to be chopped.

the Mrs wanted me to ask, is it heavy cream or light cream... she says it matters otherwise I woulda had it for dinner last night.

Ahh man, fishfinder thanks!! That recipe is a keeper, made the chowder and some biscuits for dinner and the wife even loved it. That always helps when I have to explain the things I have to buy for fishing!!! Thanks! You too, Chez, the heavy cream worked and I used 1/2 stick butter with the sautéing! My cholesterol pill needed a good work out anyway!! Good use for some gill filets!

Glad you like it shiver318! Recipes are meant to be toyed with...add things that you think would go well wth a recipe and subtract what tou don't like.  ;)
