Southeast opener
« on: March 18, 2015, 08:04:51 PM »
Anyone from the northeast heading to the southeast for the April 4th regional trout opener?  I grew up fishing the creeks in Schuylkill, Lehigh and northern Berks counties.  I have been toying with the idea of heading back home for the opener but can't make up my mind.  I know the crowds will be heavy so maybe I will head down there the second weekend.  Anyone else heading down there?

Good luck to all you fishers in the southeast this weekend.  I don't be making it down to the homeland this year for the opener.  Stay safe, that water is still very cold.

Back in the day I fished trout a LOT,BOTH,STOCKIES and NATIVES in creeks and rivers, you couldn't beat the bite the day after a heavy rain.
We used to skip school or, work on days like that in the spring!!!!.
The NATIVE BROWNS USE TO GO{{ CRAZY}} on those days.
Red Worms,NITE Crawler Heads, even Salted Minnows.
Ive seen the Bass go Crazy Also on the BIG D and,The SUSKY during a rain storm and the day after also.
DONT COUNT YOURSELF OUT DUE TO THE RAIN.The main thing is to try. ;)
Im not fishing trout saturday,im hopeing to get some more CATFISHING IN. ;)

SUSKY,Durk don't fish trout, only the first day.you got a better chance of finding SANTA stuck in your FIREPLACE on Christmas morning ,than Durk in a pair of waders up to his chest in water on the BIG D chaseing a trophy brown.
Narrowsburg is kinda an everything hole.Smallies,EYES,CHANNEL CATS,BULLHEADS,GILLS,PERCH,ROCK BASS HUGE CARP,EELS,SHAD and the very unlikely trout, but I did witness 2 big browns caught back to back there years ago fishing for shadd..
The upper D is where the BIG trout hang out.FROM CALICOO to the mouths of the DAMs.
