I encourage everyone to log onto the fish commission web site & read the news release about draining white oaks & millers ponds. In the article it reads both lakes will be drained completely and remain empty until funding to fix the dams can be located.....which I doubt will be in most peoples lifetimes. We lost lower woods a few years ago & rehings pond outside of waymart over 30 years ago. If any of these guys had to get a job in private industry they wouldn't last a day, and keep putting up with it. On another note, all season & creel limits have been lifted at these waters, so go to it.

Sad to hear you guys will be losing more waterways....awful shame that states can't raise money or budget the funds that have been generated to help restore or maintain our waters ways. Nor, will any of them them work hard enough to help maintain and rebuild waterways. Some of them probably enjoy those waters that are being shutdown too. Real sad! I feel for the people who are losing out! Including the younger generation.... $:-\$

never been to millers pond but I've ice fished Oaks. great lake for crappie, perch and gills. I'm gonna miss that lake.

Lake Jean up on Red Rock Mt. as well, dam is supposed to be repaired there though.

Doesn't any of the fracking drilling money go toward repairing dams ? They are using PA State Forest land, why not give something back.

yeah, he's over on the ice site. Spending more time thinkin of getting a buck and then getting out on the ice. He's bummed for sure. They are having a town meeting tomorrow night about the ponds. Are these township property or are they state property? If they belong to the township, it explains why they don't have the money to fix them.

I'm a winter kinda guy. I like ice fishing much more than soft water fishing. My wife keeps trying to get me to move south, that ain't gonna happen!

I used to enjoy hard water but it Seems that the older I get the more I dislike winter...working outside for the past 15 years doesn't help my enthusiasm either

That's funny... the older I get the more I like winter! Been working inside for around 40 years though. Must be the reason! I don't mind the summer, but I look forward to the winter

Last winter was tough on me...I had zero motivation to spend my days off out in it, except for a frw trips to the cabin last year where I had a place to warm up when needed. . I'm goin to make an effort to get out more this year tho.

I don't know why they even had a meeting. There's nothing anyone could do about it anyway. They said that it would take 6 years or so to get around to fixing it. Say goodbye to oaks and millers ponds.
