Preseason pellet heads!
« on: March 17, 2016, 09:55:42 AM »
On tuesday me and markplusone met  the bucket burgade to do a little pre season lip rippin on a local DHALO section of the west branch of the wallenpaupack creek. I for one ain't about catching stockies in a bath tub but Mark wanted to get the cob webs out and hit a new stream he never fished before. when we arrived we found several others taking advantage of the 55 degree weather and 600 plus trout just dumbed in the hole. The  guys that were throwing spinners in the prime spots pulled in one after the other, one guy said he ended up with 36 another had 29. I fished from the bank and caught a few on nymphs while my buddy waded across to the other side and picked away at them.

Just nice being out,,Henna Nemo.
I hate stockie fishing myself, but sometimes it can be fun.
Slocum was stocked yesterday.my buddy was there calico fishing.
Him and his 2 buddies landed 25 trout.
A few swollowed the hook, and were releast with a hook in their gut.
Its a month till trout season, lots of those troit at Slocum will be caught and die..
That looks like a nice creek you guys were at.
I got a native trout creek in the poconos,i will tske you.
I gotta blind fold you though.lol.
No blind fold buddy.just barbless hooks. ;)

Yeah chez, just getting the gear ready for the real trout.  ;) You'd be surprised how many native/wild trout streams we have in PA.  8)  Have to get  HD to float the Deli with us this year. When he does he won't wanna fish anywhere else. That rivers got so much aquatic life in it we'll be scraping the flys of his teeth when were done. lol

By far the sulphur hatch has got to be the most prolific hatch. Starts in may and ends in september. There's different species of sulphurs tho ranging from size 20-14.. Not sure what you mean by biggest insects? but the biggest mayfly's are the green and brown drakes(size8-10) they usually start hatching around memorial day weekend and last for a week or two.
