A few more Lehigh trout
« on: April 25, 2016, 05:59:24 AM »
Hit the Lehigh near the game lands and caught a few brookies, water is very low and the fish were spooked easily. Pretty much any shaded area was holding fish. The last pic is a honking crawfish that grabbed my jig ,was about 5 inches long.

Will do bud. I tried the tenkara that day but the wind was relentless so I had a hard time with it...snagged a lot of branches and did a lot of cursing...so I opted for the spinning rod.there were quite a,few trout taking flies of the surface when the wind was calm. There's so much food in the water right now from that mild winter that they can be picky.

Yeah there was a ton of bait fish in there. Actually caught a few chubs in the 4 to 5 inch range.

You'll get the hang of it. for picky trout theres only one fly you'll need. just ask HD!  ;D

Fishfinder, you have a Tenkara outfit ?  Wow, that's super cool, ever since I've heard of them I was intrigued, now that you mention the wind I can see that as being a hassle.  There are times dry fly fishing when I just stand there and wait, won't even try to cast into the wind,  you can always drift a fly downstream to trout, casting in the wind is very frustrating.
