Snowhill Dam trouble!
« on: April 25, 2016, 05:41:44 PM »
Not with the dam, but with the wildfire!  :(

If you are headed there this week you might wanna call DCNR and/or the PF&BC.

The 16 mile fire is in that area and they have already closed a section of the Delaware S.F. nearby.

Over 7500 acres already burned and ony 1/3rd contained right now.

I heard it was supposed to be stocked on Friday, but that might be on hold now.

Yeah they have most all of the roads heading west off of 402 closed from 84 south to all easy snow hill road.  The fire is approximately 5 or 6 miles south east of where I live and work.   I hope it does not jump 402 cause then they have hemlock farms and care free cottages and porters lake to worry about.

Yep- stay safe, Wizzy! Sounds like the rain helped a bit. They said it went from 40% contained yesterday to 60% by earlier today. Hopefully no more property is damaged and they can get a good handle on it in the coming days.

They were supposed to have a public meeting at E. Stroudsburg North HS tonight. Would have gone, but the wife took my daughter to swim practice there tonight.

I know chez!  ;)

Will the road be open to the dam? Spider said the other day that the fire was headed towards there.  I'm pretty sure Snowhill Rd. is closed on the other end towards 402. Not sure if you can access the dam/lake from the west, though.

If it is open, I'll be there. Gotta go thru that area anyway on the way down to my folks for the weekend.

I just saw the latest fire map and it looks like the southern edge of the fire has been haulted. Good news, Snowhill is safe and so is Otter Lake. Tonights rain is supposd to be pretty heavy and could be a direct hit. Lets hope.
