probably when you buy 'em at retailers. I got mine at the office at Promised Land and they gave me a sticker. I went out, put it on the boat and went fishing. At least you got a temp so you can go out before the sticker is mailed to you.

Chez, at least you're legal,  would be a hassle if they make you paddle in cuz you don't have a sticker though ???

Must be new this year.. got mine at dicks last summer and got the actual permit. Wonder if the parks office still give the permit or did they switch to  temp sticker also?

It was the State Parks that came up with the "launch permits". You didn't need one if your boat was registered by the PFBC so the only ones who needed them were canoes and rowboats(back then). At this time you did not need them for paddle craft on PFBC property. That changed a few years ago when the PFBC also adopted the "launch permit" for paddle craft for their properties, however they recognized the State Park "permit" so you needed one or the other.

Don't know if they are still separate or if they morphed into one, but pretty sure the Pa DNRC did not hand it over to the PFBC without some of the money going back to Pa DNRC.... LOL
The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

I remember the situation that icemole was talking about.  Over 10 years or so ago when I was shopping for my 1st pontoon boat I couldn't get any answers regarding permits, no one knew any regulations regarding a solo pontoon boat.  I finally talked to the state park office at Frances Slocum and they mentioned a "launch permit" which would allow me to go on any state park waters, so I got one, been getting them there ever since.

During the summer people float the Susky in tire tubes, they don't need a permit  ::)  what's up with that  ?

What about belly boats ?   Creek Company makes one now that is frameless "U Boat" no paddle, you use fin power, but it's more like a pontoon than a regular belly boat.  I suppose if you took a paddle out with one they would say you need a launch permit.   :-[
