Pontoon maiden voyage 2016
« on: May 11, 2016, 07:29:17 PM »
I got on a local lake today, pontoon worked well, wind was unpredictable which messed with my dry fly fishing.  In between the wind gusts I managed to locate some fish and finally landed a couple.  Then a real nice one took Nemo's dry fly.

2 Eagles on top of 3rd Pine tree from the left, you can see the top one taking flight, there is another in the top branches just below

Beast of the day

22 1/2 inches of solid rainbow

I missed a ton of fish, they were rising most of the day.  Getting in position, casting and the wind were the problems.  I only got 3 rainbows to hand and then the big one porpoised on my fly.  The fish went nuts when it realized it was hooked.  I wasn't anchored and had no net, my mistake.  I figured I would try and tire him out to the point where I could handle him but that wasn't happening.  I finally decided to get to shore and beach him.  By that point the fish was exhausted and not reviving so I decided to keep him.
