Moon Lake Hiking
« on: April 06, 2018, 02:18:16 PM »
Took a hike around the lake then out over some of the bike trails and fields yesterday. Just wanted to get out for some fresh air and exercise. Didn't see any fish in the shallows yet but there were lots of early birds making their appearance, I think oven birds weer represented and some drab colored warblers, plus a great blue heron. Second heron of the season saw one over at Slocum this week too. The moss is sphagnum moss where peat moss comes from, the tree bark is from a dead ash tree. the ash borers have just about completed their work the ash trees are dying by the thousands here. Just had to cut one from the front of my house.
